1966 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Touring Limousine

Between 1959 and 1966, there were approximately 200 Phantom V chassis produced with James Young coachwork in a variety of styles. It is believed that a mere 25 of the late-production James young bodies featured the re-worked rear quarter-window treatments that incorporated a reverse-curve Hooper-style line.

This left-hand-drive example wears PV16 body style, complete with the Hooper-style quarter windows. It was among the last of the 516 Phantom Vs produced. The original owner was Charleton H. Palmer in 1966. The car is finished in deep burgundy with tan leather upholstery and burl wood veneers.

In the rear passenger area of the car, there is a Smiths clock, opulent lambskin overlay rugs, a reading lamp, radio, lighter, vanity set, carpeted foot rests and folding jump seats.

The engine is a 90-degree V-8 engine fitted with Twin SU carburetors. There are four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes and a four-speed automatic gearbox.

In 2011, the car was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company auction held in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was estimated to sell for $200,000 - $250,000. As bidding came to a close, the car was sold for the sum of $154,000 including buyer's premium.
