This Phantom I is one of only two chassis believed to be bodied by Hibbard & Darrin. It has gold-plated hardware, a Rolls-Royce silent clock, a sterling silver brandy set for two, a sterling silver cigarette holder with matching lighter case, and eight cut-velvet panels that line the interior of the coach trimmed with inlaid wood. There are even two fold-up 'cricket' seats. The exterior of the car is finished in burgundy and black.
The current owner has retained the car for nearly 30 years. The engine was rebuilt in 1984 and recently the servo braking system and clutch were renewed and a valve job was completed in the late 2000s.
In 2010, this vehicle was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company auction in Scottsdale, Az. where it was estimated to sell for $150,000 - $210,000. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $137,500 including the buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Feb 2011
