1979 Williams FW07B Navigation
Ten years after Frank Williams' first F1 entry - the 1969 British Grand Prix - the Williams Grand Prix Engineering FW07 won the 1979 British Grand Prix. Clay Regazoni's win that day signaled the arrival of Williams Grand Prix at the top echelon of Formula 1. Fourteen more Grand Prix wins were scored by the FW07, 07 and 07C over, the next three years, accounting for Alan Jones' World Drivers' Championship and two Constructor's Championships. The design by Patrick Head employed the ground-effect principles pioneered by the Lotus 79 but incorporated a level of quality engineering and construction that was to become the hallmark of Williams Grand Prix Engineering.
