1974 Triumph TR6 Convertible Coupe

Italian Giovanni Michelotti was selected by Triumph to design the replacement for their first post-war, small sports car, the four-cylinder TR3. The TR4 was developed through the independently rear-sprung TR4A, followed by a new model powered by a six-cylinder engine. The TR6 followed in 1969, and it brought with it many major updates over the earlier model by Karmann of Germany. It used the center portion of the earlier cars as a base and gave a bolder front fascia and distinctive 'Kamm tail' rear end.

This car wears its original color, which was given by the factory. It was built in May 1974 and shipped for consignment to a California dealer. The car came equipped with black vinyl upholstery, a gearbox with overdrive, retractable seat belts, and Michelin redline tires. There are clear instrument faces and various switches, the correct period AM/FM radio, and a wood dash.

In 2011, the car was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was estimated to sell for $20,000 - $25,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $22,000, including the buyer's premium.
