1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo Slant Nose

Porsche began offering a new body style option for the 911 Turbos in March of 1987 that was directly aimed at the body modification aftermarket. It was called the 'Turbo Slantnose modification option' and it incorporated a flat profile nose called a 'Flachbau.' This design was sourced from the 935 race car. Porsche offered the package for $23,244, which also included flip-up headlights accentuated with functional louvers, extended rocker panels, and widened rear wheel arches with grilled scoop vents.

For 1988, the turbo slantnose option received a separate model designation dubbed the 930S.

This 930S is one of only 305 slantnose-optioned turbo cabriolets to be imported to the United States between 1987 and 1989. It is believed that this example is one of only two such cars produced in 1988 that was given factory-ordered RUF tuning upgrades. The car was completed on March 15th of 1988 and sent to RUF for performance modifications, including a turbo upgrade, turbo boost control and a dual-port four-pipe exhaust system. Other upgrades included a roll bar, 17-inch chrome wheels, a RUF front air dam and a RUF badge.

This cabriolet has a limited-slip differential, a power-operated top, lumbar support heated seats, Blaupunkt radio, alarm system and black velour trimming for the front luggage compartment.

Currently, the car displays just under 40,350 miles. It is finished in Grand Prix White paint with black leather interior.

In 2011, the car was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was estimated to sell for $70,000 - $90,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $52,800 including buyer's premium.
