Lola T290 #HU-34 was purchased by Mike Rahal in June of 1973. Throughout that summer, Mike and son Bobby raced this car, throughout the Midwest. Bobby went on to win several SCCA events and set numerous track records that year.
In 1974, Bobby went on to win the Central Division SCCA B Sports Racing Championship in the car, now fitted with a two-liter Cosworth engine. That same year, he finished third at the SCCA's National Championship at Road Atlanta.
The Rahals sold #HU-34 in November of 1974 to David Johnston of Kitzhener, Ontario. Bobby repurchased the car in 1999 and continues to race the car in historic races throughout North America and Europe. Bobby considers this car to be the one he used to get into the fast lane of an auto racing career.
