Frank Reisner founded Intermeccanica in 1959. Their stylish creations, characterized by Italian coachwork cloaking American power plants, helped to establish the company as a legitimate coachbuilder.
Fewer than 600 Italia were assembled between 1967 and 1973. Approximately two thirds of production were coupes and the remaining 200 were drop top spyders. In this car, a 300 horsepower Ford Cleveland 351 V8, coupled to a T-10 transmission and a Ford nine-inch rear end provides motivation, while four-wheel disc brakes provide the necessary restraint.
This car was purchased, by tthe current owners, as scrap in 1995. It underwent an extensive three-year restoration. It has been featured in several publications and has been displayed at the Concourso Italiano.
