The original owner of this Allard placed an order for the new, updated K2 model. An addendum to the order was issued on March 21st of 1960, canceling the K2. Instead, the owner decided he wanted a K1. Original K1-style bodywork was installed on an improved, left-hand-drive K2 chassis with a revised dashboard layout, and coil-spring front suspension, resulting in a one-off K1/2.
The completed car was delivered to the United States through the John Forbes Agency of Boston, Massachusetts. During the 1950s, the car was disassembled and stored until its subsequent sale in 1972, then received a hobbyist restoration over a 30-year period.
The previous owner acquired the car in 2003 and commissioned a professional job. It was finished in silver with a pewter interior. Just 582 miles have been put on the odometer since the restoration was completed.
There are clear black-faced Smith gauges and a wooden fascia. Power is from a 1947 Ford flathead V8, bored out to 295 cubic inches and equipped with Edelbrock heads and intake manifold, as well as triple Stromberg 97 carburetors.By Daniel Vaughan | May 2017
