1952 Morgan Plus Four Drophead Coupe

  • Chassis Number: P-2281
This Morgan Plus Four Drophead coupe is number 34 of 117 examples built. The world's oldest privately owned car company, Morgan, crafted only 117 'Flat Rad' Drophead Coupes and only about 30 remain today.

This car was imported by New York City's Fergus Motors and a few years later, it returned to the Morgan works, where the Vanguard engine was exchanged for the 100-bhp Triumph TR3 engine now presiding under the bonnet.

In 2004, the car was acquired by its current owner with the odometer showing just 319 actual miles. The car was re-commissioned in 2004, with work including a total mechanical evaluation, new brakes, new wiring, interior mahogany refurbishment and correct new tires on trued wheels. Other work followed, resulting in a multiple concours winning car. The result of the work has earned it Best in Show and Best in Class awards.

In 2011, this vehicle was offered for sale at the Amelia Island Auction presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $50,000-$70,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $66,000 including buyer's premium.
