Former General Motors president Charles W. Nash, who had acquired the Thomas B. Jeffery Company of Kenosha, Wisconsin, founded the Nash Motors company in 1916. The Jeffery Company was known for the Rambler which started production in 1902. The first vehicle to bear the name of the company's new owner was the 1917 Nash Model 671, and it featured an overhead valve engine. Nash also was credited with pioneering the concept of flow-through ventilation common on modern cars.
The 1932 Series 1090 was part of an effort by Nash to go upmarket, like many other manufactures facing falling sales, to add prestige to the brand. It featured the 322 cubic-inch overhead-valve, straight 8-cylinder engine producing 125 horsepower. It also featured a 'twin-ignition' which included two sets of plugs, points, condensers and coils operating from a single distributor. The car had a synchromesh transmission, free-wheeling, automatic centralized chassis lubrication, worm-drive rear axle and a suspension that was adjustable from inside the car.
