1923 Duesenberg Model A Sport Phaeton

This Fleetwood-bodied Touring car was purchased in 1948 by the current owner's father who was employed by Duesenberg in 1929-1930. When acquired, the car lacked its original coachwork, so a period-correct Cadillac phaeton body was fitted and the car was then used extensively for touring. It has recently received a restoration.

This Duesenberg Model A was acquired by Mr. Karl Killorin in 1948. At the time, it was a complete car but without a body. It had the original frame, drivetrain, engine, radiator, front fenders, splash apron, and suspension. It was given a Cadillac touring body of the 1920s, after which the 'rolling restoration' hit the road and was put into service. He eventually gave the car a cosmetic restoration in 1974.

Karl Killorin passed away in 1989, and ownership passed to his son, Eric, who then began a fresh restoration that took two decades to complete. The car was finished in deep velvet green, with a concours-level oak green leather interior. It won Best in Class at the 2011 Concours d'Elegance of America. It earned a First Junior award at the ACD Club Reunion in 2011; an AACA National Senior First Prize; and a 100-point score in the CCCA National competition at Rockport, Massachusetts, in 2012. The car has been accorded CCCA Full Classic status and is therefore eligible both for National Level judging and CCCA CARavans.
