1954 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible Coupe

The revamped 1954 Plymouth Belvedere series line was designed to compete with the Ford Crestline and the Chevy Bel Air. Sitting on a carryover chassis, the 1954 Plymouth offered proven mechanicals, a reasonable size and sensible styling. Initially, the venerable 100 horsepower, 218 cubic-inch flathead Six was the only engine offering - a larger 230 cubic-inch Six providing 110 horsepower became available later in the model year.

The convertible's optional Hy-Style paint and trim package, introduced mid-year, included several upgrades as well as a unique 'Wood-weave' vinyl insert at the beltline. This particular example is finished in 'San Pedro Blue.' It has the 100 horsepower engine, and is equipped with a variety of options and accessories including the Hy-Style trim package, a rear-mounted spare tire, and the rarely seen 'Hy-Drive' semi-automatic transmission (later cars used the fully automatic 'PowerFlite').

This car was acquired by the current owner in 1992 from its original home of Portland, Oregon and was later treated to a full restoration.
