In 1864, Glaser of Dresden, Germany was founded as a carriage-builder for Saxon royalty, and it built bodies in small batches for marques such as BMW and Ford. Ford introduced their Model 48 in 1935 and powered it with a flathead 3.6-liter V8 engine offering 85 horsepower at 3800 RPM. This Convertible Cabriolet with coachwork by Glaser was purchased in 1936 by the Westermann family who escaped persecution by driving it to Belgium, then taking a ferry to England.
