1952 Chevrolet Suburban Carryall

    1952 Chevrolet Suburban Navigation
Chevrolet began production of its all-steel 'Carryall-Suburban' as a 1935 model to replace the earlier 'station wagon' built of wood framing on the 1/2 ton truck chassis. GMC introduced a similar vehicle in 1937. Among a variety of makes using the Suburban name, the Chevrolet version is still in production, having out-lasted all competitors to become the longest-running nameplates among American vehicles.

In time, these versatile 2-door vehicles became known as the 'Suburban Carryall' which was subsequently shortened in 1988 to 'Suburban' as an exclusive GM trademark. 'Carryalls' became a popular utility vehicle capable of carrying up to 8 passengers in roomy comfort on a 115-inch wheelbase, their luggage behind the seats, and towing a sizable trailer. Removable quick-fastening 2nd and 3rd seats made voluminous capacity for a delivery van. For 1952, the line continued with the rugged inline 6-cylinder engine producing 90 horsepower and either a 3-speed or 4-speed manual transmission available in either of two styles: one with rear doors, the other with lift and tailgates.

This model KP3100 of that year continued the styling introduced in 1947 that remained largely unchanged and has been restored to as-produced condition.
