1925 Franklin Model 10C Demi Sedan

The Franklin automobile, built in Syracuse, New York from 1902-1934 was the best-selling air-cooled automobile in the United States. Even by 1925, Franklin was one of the few remaining air-cooled cars. Air-cooling is by means of a hood over the motor. A fan is located at the front of this hood and creates a vacuum that causes the air to rush around the motor.

This Franklin is quite original, receiving only a repaint and replacement tires over the years. It was stored in a Long Beach, California garage for more than 50 years. This Franklin sedan is somewhat of a milestone automobile for Franklin. Following extensive protests from its dealer organization in 1923-1924, the Franklin Company redesigned its cars to more resemble a conventional automobile of the day, abandoning the original, distinctive look as seen on this Franklin.

Ironically, the redesign cost Franklin its chief engineer, who resigned in protest over the move - but it was the right move for Franklin, which enjoyed sales success for a few more years.
