The Citroen Traction Avant (French for 'front wheel drive') was in production from 1934 until 1956, albeit with subtle changes over the years. Approximately 760,000 were built during that time.
While it was not the world's first front wheel drive, it was the world's first front wheel drive steel monocoque (unibody) production automobile.
The Traction Avant also featured an advanced suspension system - the front wheels were individual sprung, using a torsion bar and wishbone suspension arrangement.
The 1100cc, four-cylinder, overhead valve engine produces 56 horsepower.
This car is essentially original. It has been maintained rather than restored over the years.
