1948 Diamond T Model 201 Pick-Up

The Diamond Model 201, a one-ton pickup, was introduced in 1938 and powered by a Hercules engine with a Warner Gear transmission. The Chicago-based company enjoyed a reputation for a quality products that were very durable, capable of carrying heavy loads, and hauling lots of equipment.

The six-cylinder Hercules engine had seven main bearings, was cooled by a gear-driven water pump and offered 91 bhp at 3200 RPM. The powerplant was mated to a Warner T9 four-speed manual gearbox.

This Diamond T pick-up truck spent most of its working life in Colorado or Wyoming on farms. It was purchased in the mid-1990s by the current owner, who began a complete off-frame restoration that took five years. The owner performed nearly 50% of the restoration work.

Among the features of this truck are cast steel spoke wheels, Warner T-9 four-speed transmission, 13-leaf rear springs, cast steel brake shoes, and a 4,000-pound load rating.

This Diamond T pick-up truck is powered by a Hercules-type QXL03 motor. The company's slogan was 'The Handsomest Truck in America.' The late 1940s were the company's peak years of production.
