1942 Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon

Ford produced 5,483 Super Deluxe woodies in 1942 along with 567 examples of the Series 21A Deluxe. These figures were considerably low compared with much larger annual production totals for 1936 through 1948. Most of the blame lay with America's involvement with World War II, where military requirements took priority, accounting for the significant percentage of Ford's 1948 production.

This rare example is a Model 21A Super DeLuxe Station Wagon fitted with a flathead V8 displacing 221 cubic-inches and offering 90 horsepower. It has a three-speed manual transmission and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. It was originally delivered to the owner of a goldmining operating in Colorado and remained in his ownership until his passing during the 1960s. His estate later sold it to the second owner, an enthusiast from Colorado, in whose ownership it remained for three decades.

This Station Wagon has dual Ford-scripted fog lights, a radio, an upgraded Southwind heater, twin taillights, turn indicators, twin 'gooseneck' mirrors, twin front-seat armrests, a metal spare tire cover, and three-row seating, with capacity for eight passengers. The bodywork is made from maple and African mahogany.
