1956 Mercury Monterey Navigation
Ford's Lincoln-Mercury Division built the Monterey in their St. Louis, Missouri plant from 1950 to 1974 both as 2-door coupes and 4-door sedans. The 1956 model was the last of the first generation of Montereys - the only significant development over the previous year was the adoption of the 235 horsepower, 312 cubic-inch, overhead valve V8 motor, and the fact that it was no longer Mercury's top model; that was the Montclair. The transmission was either standard or Merc-O-Matic.
