The Ferrari Challenge, beginning in 1993, has proven to be one of the most successful single-marque championship in history. This exclusive event gives owners the opportunity to race a factory-supported Ferrari at the world's best venues.
The Ferrari F430 Challenge was a minimalistic vehicle with enhancements to its suspension and braking. These well-prepared Ferraris were offered to loyal Ferrari customers and were capable of achieving lap times just shy of the factory's own F430 GT2.
This example was originally delivered to Continental AutoSports in Fall of 2009. It was one of the last examples supplied by the factory. Just after arriving the United States, the Ferrari was sold to its current caretaker. Rather than participate in the Ferrari Challenge Series, the car was entered in SCCA events. In 2010, it competed at venues such as Elkhart Lake, VIR and Sebring.
The car has acquired approximately 1,400 miles from new. Currently, it rides on 18-inch Challenge wheels, steel brake rotors with monobloc calipers, Moton three-way adjustable shock absorbers and a full Fall Line roll cage. There are the original center-lock hubs, wheels, shock absorbers and carbon brakes.
In 2011, the car was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company auction held in Pebble Beach, CA. It was estimated to sell for $175,000-$225,000. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $162,250 including buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Nov 2011
