1914 Cadillac Model 30 Navigation
By 1911, Cadillac was pre-selling all seven of its models - a testament to its popularity, durability, and success. 1911 was the third and final year for the Model 30. For 1912, Cadillac would introduce the electric starter which would prove to be one of the most useful inventions for the early automobile. Other innovative features introduced in 1912 included the ignition and lighting system.
This vehicle has a close-coupled open body and brass accessories. It was displayed in a museum for around three decades. It was given a complete body-off restoration in 2009. There is a hinged steering wheel and a two-speed rear axle. Period accents include wind wings, cowl lights, and a rear-mounted spare tire.
In 2011, this vehicle was offered for sale at the Hershey Auction presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $100,000 - $120,000. Bidding reached $60,000 but was not enough to satisfy the vehicle's reserve. It would leave the auction unsold.By Daniel Vaughan | Nov 2015
