1948 Cadillac Series 60 Special Fleetwood
During World War II, all domestic auto production ceased as manufacturing plants converted to building wartime tanks, aircraft and other much needed military goods. With the end of hostilities in 1945, auto assembly lines resumed building cars at breakneck speed with the 1946 model year. Cadillacs for 1946-47 received only a minor styling facelift and were to a large extent the same design as the pre-war 1942 models.

The 1948-49 Cadillac was the first post-war all-new design from General Motors and featured the now famous aircraft-inspired tailfin look. The tailfin on Cadillac designs continued to grow, reaching its zenith in 1959 and disappearing until the 1970 model year.

Powering the 1948 Cadilllac Sixty Special was a 346 cubic-inch V8 engine rated at 150 horsepower. The four-door sedan sold for the sum of $3,820.
