1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio Spyder

In North America, the Series 3 Spider made its debut for the 1982 model year along with the introduction of 2.0 liter Bosch electronic fuel injection which served as a replacement for the SPICA mechanical injection. In 1983, the Spider was given a major styling revamp. One of the more prominent new features were the black rubber front and rear bumpers. The front bumper incorporated the grille and a small soft rubber spoiler was added to the trunk lid.

The Spider's initial design was the last work overseen by Pininfarina founder Batista 'Pinin' Farina, and it was a well-proportioned shape with a tapering tail to balance its long, sloping nose with covered headlights.

The interior received a new center console, lower dash panels (to meet United States regulations) and a single monopod gauge cluster (with electronic gauges.) For the North American market a model dubbed the Graduate was added in tribute to the car's famous appearance in the 1967 film, The Graduate, starring Dustin Hoffman.
