1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Coupe

This 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R has just 1,500 original miles. SVT reduced the vehicle's weight by removing the radio system, air conditioning, rear seat, and sound dampening material. It was only available with manual windows, manual door locks, and cloth seats. SVT knew that racers would probably strip the interior and swap the seats with competition approved race buckets. The cars were then shipped from the Dearborn Assembly Plant to an outside company called Masotech for installation of an aftermarket 20 gallon rubberized fuel cell and a heavy duty cooling system. To further distinguish the Cobra R, they were given a lightweight fiberglass cowl induction hood. The only other exterior accouterment added to the Cobra R was its special wheels. These new five spoke 17 inch 'Cobra R' wheels were very popular and became a favorite option for Mustang enthusiasts to install on their vehicles with many aftermarket replicas made in the years to come.

The Cobra R was available in only Crystal White and only 250 examples were produced. Many were sold to collectors. Ford also sold many to persons with a competition license hoping that most of these cars would be used for racing competition rather than resting in private collections.

This particular Cobra R has spent most of its life in a private collection and has been cared for in a climate-controlled facility with full-time staff ensuring the property was properly maintained.

In 2012 the car was offered for sale at the Russo & Steele auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $26,950 inclusive of buyer's premium.
