1963 Pontiac Catalina Hardtop

1963 was the last year that General Motors supported factory drag-racing.

This Pontiac 2-Door Super Duty vehicle is a re-creation that has been meticulously restored mechanically. It has a super duty dual quad 428 cubic-inch engine with correct, long branch, manifolds and 1956 Corvette finned aluminum air cleaners. The engine has a complete butler performance forged rotating assembly to include I-beam rods forged flat top pistons and factory forged crankshaft coupled with the 294, duration, comp cams hydraulic camshaft and roller rocker arm's Edelbrock aluminum 75 cc heads and correct super duty valve covers. It has a vintage Offenhauser dual four barrel manifold with two Carter 600 CFM carburetors.

There is a vintage Lakewood scatter shield clutch, Muncie M21 four-speed with correct Hurst shifter. There are torque thrust front wheels accompanied by steel rear wheels with Hurst cheater slicks. At all four corners there are competition engineering drag-racing shock absorbers. This recreation also has a 12 gallon fuel cell and new trunk mounted orbital battery.

In 2012, this Super Duty recreation was offered for sale at the Russo & Steele auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $20,900 inclusive of buyer's premium.
