There were two McLaren M19A examples produced, and this example - chassis number M19A-2 - is the second M19 produced. It was used by Denny Hulme during the 1971 season and the early part of 1972. In the capable hands of Denny Hulme, this M19A was driven to a first place finish at the 1972 South African Grand Prix.
After Hulme's career in the M19A came to an end (replaced with a M19C), M19A-2 was driven by Peter Revson and Brian Redman.
