1965 Mercedes-Benz 300SE Sedan

The Mercedes-Benz 300SE came as a four-door sedan, coupe, convertible, and long four-door sedan. Base pricing ranged from $8,660 to $12,575. Standard equipment included an automatic transmission, power steering, and air suspension. The overhead-cam six-cylinder engine displaced 183 cubic-inches and produced 185 (SAE) horsepower.

The 300SE was the company's flagship model at the time of its introduction in 1961, surpassing the 300 'Adenauer.' It would remain the flagship model until the arrival of the 600 'Grosser Mercedes' in 1963. They were one of four models to share the new 'fin tail' body style first seen at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1959.

Though the 300SE was similar in appearance to the contemporary 220, the 300Se was mechanically more refined, featuring self-leveling air suspension that would later be featured on the 600, power assisted steering, servo-assisted disc brakes on all four wheels, and from August 1963, dual-circuit braking.

This 300SE is an automatic transmission example that is finished in Tunis beige metallic (DB 462) with original Turquoise leather interior (DB 222). The last (third) owner purchased the car 21 years ago.

In 2012, the car was offered for sale at the Monaco sale presented by Bonhams. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of €25,300 including buyer's premium.
