1957 Fiat 500 Sedan

The Nuova 500 made its introduction in 1957 and served as a replacement for the popular 500 'Topolino.' It featured unitary construction, an opening fabric roof and an all-independent suspension. The 479cc power unit was an air-cooled overhead-valve twin mated to a four-speed gearbox. The basic 500 was known as the 'Economica' which was not well received, prompting the swift introduction of a revised and better-equipped model. This new update made its introduction towards the end of 1957 at the Turin Show. This less Spartan version included wind-down windows, an upholstered rear seat, column-mounted switchgear stalks and hubcaps. Introduced in 1960, the successor 500D used the 499.5cc engine of the 500 Sport in de-tuned form. It was superseded in 1965 by the 500F. The vehicle was an immense success with almost 3,000,000 of these little cars had been sold when production ceased in 1975.

This vehicle features a full-length sunroof incorporating the rear screen, no rear seats, and fixed side windows.

In 2012, the car was offered for sale at the Monaco sale presented by Bonhams. The car was estimated to sell for €37,000 - 42,000 but bidding failed to satisfy the vehicle's reserve. It would leave the auction unsold.
