1966 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Limousine

For 1966, Mercedes-Benz produced just 30 examples of the large Pullman Limousine. The 'Grosser' Mercedes was a coach-built vehicle and was a statement of the company's engineering ability. In short, it was the best luxury car money could buy.

The name '600' was a reflection of its engine size, and made its introduction in October of 1963 at the Paris Auto Show. Customer cars were not delivered until 12 months later. Production lasted through 1981 with a total of 2,677 examples produced, including 323 in 1966, with just 30 being Pullmans.

The Mercedes-Benz 600 was available as a short, standard wheelbase with seating capacity of 5/6 individuals. A larger, 7/8 seater Pullamn version was also available.

The Mercedes-Benz 600 was powered by a 6.3-liter V8 engine. The vehicle's had air suspension and electro-hydraulic controls for everything from windows to boot release.

This Pullman example has had an engine overhaul that was performed in Italy. Also, the hydraulics have been recently serviced. The car is finished in brown exterior with matching leather interior. The overhead valve engine features Bosch mechanical fuel injection and delivers 250 horsepower. There is a four-speed automatic gearbox with servo-assisted, twin-circuit hydraulic disc brakes.

In 2012, the car was offered for sale at the RM Auction's Monaco sale. The car was estimated to sell for €50.000-€70.000. Bidding reached €40.000 but was not enough to satisfy the vehicle's reserve. It would leave the auction unsold.
