1956 Chrysler New Yorker St. Regis

    1956 Chrysler New Yorker Navigation
Chrysler used the New Yorker nameplate from 1935 through 1996 making it, at the time, the longest-lived car nameplate in history. The St. Regis had been introduced in 1955 as an upscale version of the New Yorker and was designed by Virgil Exner. He also designed the Chrysler 300 series and created the corporate theme for Chrysler entitled the 'Forward Look' for the 1955 and 1956 model years.

All St. Regis models were three-color coupes with only nine color combinations available. This example features a black, carnation red, and cloud white color scheme. The St. Regis featured a pushbutton 'PowerFlite' automatic transmission selector and a 365 cubic-inch V-8 'Hemi' engine which offered 280 horsepower. There were only 6,686 coupes produced in the 1956 model year.

This St. Regis was literally a barn find. The car had been parked in a shed in Pennsylvania since 1980 when the current owner located it in 2008. All restoration work was performed by the current owner which took over 3,000 hours and three years to complete.

No auction information available for this vehicle at this time.
