1959 Buick LeSabre

Share on:

The 1959 Buick was all new, with striking 'delta wing' styling. The long, low profile and sharp-edged shape marked a stunning break from traditional designs. Even the model names were name: LeSabre replaced Special as the entry-level series, Invicta signified a midrange car and Electra replaced Roadmaster as the prestige Buick. The Electra '225' was just a step below Cadillac.

Station wagons were available only in LeSabre and Invicta trim levels. Although the 1959 Buick wagon bodies appeared very similar to the Fisher-bodied Chevrolets and Pontiacs, they were actually designed and constructed by the Ionia Body Company - as Buick had done with wagon bodies for many years.

Total 1959 LeSabre wagon production was 8,286 and all were equipped with a 364 cubic-inch 'Wildcat' V8. Price started at $3,320, although this Lesabre wagon is heavily equipped with options, including factory air conditioning, power windows, roof rack, tinted glass and a power antenna.
