1968 Chevron B8 Navigation
This 1968 Chevron B8 DBE 70 is powered by a four-cylinder BMW B4T 0125 engine which is capable of producing 200 horsepower. It weighs 1300 pounds and has a top speed of about 150 mph. Its first owner was Ian Skailes who purchased the car in 1969. It was exported and bought by Helmut Holch of Germany in 1970. Holch raced the car in Germany during the 1970 and 1971 seasons. It was crashed and rebuilt in the summer of 1970.
It was purchased by Chirs Smith in 1979 and returned to the UK where it was restored by Lester Owen. Peter Bennett became the vehicle's next owner in 1984, who resold it to Rob Grant. Grant entered the car in Historic Sports Car Club events in the UK. The following year it was purchased by Steve Laurence of Alamo, California, and shipped to the United States.
From 1985 through 2003, it was raced occasionally by Steve and Jim Laurence in US vintage events such as the Monterey Historics. In 2004 it was acquired by Francois Castaing.
There were only 44 Chevron B-8 racing cars produced between 1968 through 1970.
