1927 Packard 343 Eight Roadster

This is one of just two Murphy-bodied Packard 343 Eights known to exist. The other belonged to Phil Hill. This Packard left the factory in Detroit as a bare chassis (222555) in the summer of 1927 and was fitted with this roadster coachwork at the workshops of the Walter M. Murphy Company in Pasadena. It was shown at the 1927 Los Angeles Auto Show, and to enhance its flowing lines, it was shown with rear-mounted spares. This unique disappearing top coupe is equipped with an eight-cylinder Packard engine, and features include European-style Carl Zeiss headlamps. Its current owner bought the car in 1990, sold it, and bought it back again in 2003.
