1932 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Dual Cowl Phaeton

This 1932 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton with chassis 2330 and engine J315 was originally fitted with a high-roof limousine body by Rollston. Its first owner was Mrs. Henry Evans of New York City. The Evans family was one of the few to own more than one Model J, they also owned J473 and SJ514. Two years after her purchase of J315 she sent it back to the factory for her second new Rollston limousine, J473. J315 was then shipped to the Chicago Factory Branch where it was given a coupe body by Dietrich. The coupe body had originally been on a Lincoln chassis.

J315 was sent to the Vice-President of Sales, Mr. Don P. Hogan, in September of 1935. The vehicle was one of only 18 cars still on the books when the Duesenberg Company shut down in 1937. J315 was sold for $1850 to Harry J. Felz Motors of Chicago Illinois.

Since that time the car has been owned and sold by many individuals. A complete mechanical and body restoration has transpired since that time, earning it an AACA National First Place award the first time it was shown.

This vehicle has coachwork in the style of Murphy Inc., of Pasadena, California.
