1914 Duesenberg Rickenbacker Indy racer Navigation
When the Duesenberg name first came to prominence, Fred and Augie, the German-born engineering brothers, were building race cars and entering them in events out of Des Moines, Iowa, under the banner of the Mason Motor Car Company. By late 1913, they formed the Duesenberg Motor Company in St. Paul, Minnesota, and by 1914 their 4-cylinder, 360 cubic-inch cars, like this example, were competing in many races. Their emerging 'star' driver, who finished tenth at Indianapolis that year was none other than Eddie Rickenbacker, who became famous as a World War I flying ace.
