    1922 Stutz Series K Navigation
Stutz advertised itself as the 'Car That Made Good in a Day,' referring to the company's first automobile, which entered in the 1911 Indianapolis Motor Speedway race five weeks after the car was built and managed to finish 11th (out of 33).

The Stutz company was one of the last manufacturers to veer from right-hand drive. In 1921, they introduced the KLDH series, which featured left-hand drive and a detachable head (DH) engine which offered easier de-coking and valve servicing and an impressive 'one into eight' intake manifold. In order to accommodate the left-hand drive configuration, the exhaust manifold had to be reversed so the exhaust pipe exited at the front.

The 1922 Stutz was built on a 130-inch wheelbase chassis and was powered by a Stutz-built 'T'-head, dual valve motor, which remained in production from 1917 through 1923. Displacement was 361 cubic inches; horsepower was 80.

Until Fred Moscovics became company president in 1925, the Stutz company was best known for its sporty, fast-open cars, such as this Bulldog touring. Under Moscovic's leadership, the company gained a reputation for building fast, luxurious cars and did so until 1935, when the company closed its doors.
