1934 Pierce-Arrow Model 1248 Custom Twelve Navigation
It is estimated that ninety examples of the Model 1248A V-12s were built in 1934. The L-head V-12 engine is fitted with two-barrel Stromberg carburetors offering 175 horsepower. There is a three-speed manual transmission and four-wheel vacuum-assisted mechanical drum brakes.
The 147-inch platform was the largest wheelbase offered by Packard for 1934. Five 'quick-delivery' customs were available from LeBaron coachworks. This five-passenger sedan was reputedly sold new to a Hollywood director and is believed to have had only three owners from new. It is finished in tan and dark green with twin side-mount spares and a trunk rack. The car is the recipient of a ground-up restoration.
In 2012, the car was offered for sale at the St. Johns sale presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $60,000 - $80,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $39,600 inclusive of the buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Oct 2012
