Model A production began on November 1st of 1927. Instead of continuing to use consecutive letters of the alphabet, the company chose to name it the Model A in honor of its first car. The new truck was introduced concurrently with the Model A and utilized a Model A drivetrain. The designation chosen for the truck was the Model AA.
This Model AA Popcorn Truck is equipped with a re-manufactured Cretor's body mounted on the original chassis. This includes a multiple-pot steam table, popcorn popper, burn warmer, sink, double side awnings, condiment tray, root beer barrel, and four soda dispensers. Ventilation is provided via a pop-up roof vent, crank-open front windshield, pop-out rear windows, and full-service front window. Propane tanks, which fuel the steam table, are concealed behind an exterior door. There is also an onboard generator and water tanks.
The body has newly restored oak frames. There are fixed sun visors installed on both sides of the body. The L-head four-cylinder engine produces 200.5 cubic-inches and offers 40 horsepower. There is a three-speed selective sliding gear manual transmission.
In 2012, the car was offered for sale at the St. John sale presented by RM Auctions. The car was estimated to sell for $75,000 - $90,000. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $77,000 inclusive of buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Oct 2012
