1928 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8 AS Landaulet

Isotta Fraschini introduced the Tipo 8 in 1919. By this point in its history, the company had established itself as a premier builder of luxury Italian automobiles. The Tipo 8 was the first production inline eight-cylinder engine. In 1924, the chassis underwent a thorough redesign that improved overall performance. The result of this work was a more comfortable ride and the ability to carry larger and heavier bodies. This new, updated design was soon dubbed the Tipo 8A.

This Tipo 8AS Landaulet wears coachwork by Castagna. It is believed to have been delivered new to the United States and very likely to Southern California. The car has twin carburetors as opposed to the standard singular configuration.

In the 1950s, the car was pictured in Los Angeles, California. In 1957 it was featured in Hand Wieand Bowman's Famous old Cars with photos provided by J.O. Goodell. By the early 1970s, Wayne Schlotthauer acquired the car. In the Summer of 1977, the car was purchased by Ron VanKregten for $50,000. The car remained with Mr. VanKregten for 32 years. In early 2011 it was sold to its current owner.

In 2012, the car was offered for sale at the Pebble Beach auction presented by Gooding & Company. The car was estimated to sell for $300,000 - $450,000. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for $258,500 inclusive of the buyer's premium.
