This Maserati 300S was one of only 29 built between 1954 and 1958. It is powered by an inline six-cylinder, with twin plugs and Weber carburetors and developed 280 horsepower. It can be launched to 175 mph from its 3-liter engine.
This particular car was originally owned by Franco Bordoni, who successfully raced the car in 1955 and 1956, and then sold it to Sergio Mantovani. Mantovani retired the car from racing in 1958 and stored it for eighteen years. Reg Hunt purchased the car in 1976 and drove it cross country to London before shipping it to Australia. It was thoroughly stripped and checked by Otto Stone and Ermano Lotti. Lotti came from Modena, Italy, where he had helped build the car in 1956. It was shipped to the United States in January of 2000. After passing through two other owners, the current owner took possession of the car and had it restored in March of 2012.
