According to the Porsche factory, this car was ordered for racing by Jack Ryan, owner of RBM Motors, a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Griffin, Georgia. Ryan had previous success with Porsche, racing a RSK and a 904GTS then moving to the 911 model for 1966 with his co-driver, Bill Benker, an employee at Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, FL.
Brumos is the most famous as the sponsor of the Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood race cars, Ryan's car was one of the earliest 911 S models produced, with a production completion date of July 25, 1966.
It carried engine type 901.02 serial number 960038, transmission type 901/02 serial number 103041, was finished in paint code #6602 'Polo Red' with a black leatherette interior, and sat on Dunlop 165/15 tires.
