Enzo Ferrari had his design team work with Pininfarina to conduct a study of aerodynamics and this research lead to the creation of the 275 GTB Berlinetta. The 275 GTB evoked the lines of the racing Berlinettas from 1962 but the chassis and four-wheel independent suspension signaled a serious effort at modern construction. The engine employed is a 3.29 liter single-over-head-cam V12 with 3 twin choke Weber carburetors producing 280 horsepower coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. It is capable of 165 mph and can go 0 to 60 in 6 seconds.
This 275 GTB is a 2-cam, long nose with chassis number 08545. With 275 GTBs the 'standard' questions are always is it a 2-cam or 4-cam? Long nose or short nose? The 'standard' answer is that 2-cams came before 4-cams in model year 1966. Short noses were first, series 2 cars coming with a longer, more aerodynamic nose. But as with most-things-Ferrari, the standard is not always standard. These changes were made all in the search for more speed. On the road, there is precious little to choose between either two. The 275 was a more successful development of the gloriously successful 250 GT series, first the long-wheelbase (LWB) followed by the short-wheelbase (SWB) cars, the cars that crowned Ferrari's success on both road and track.
This 275 GTB has been driven 35,000 miles by the current owner since 2005, in numerous rallies, twice to the Giro di Sicillia Historica, through the Alps and over the Stellvio Pass to Maranello. When the odometer hit 180,000 kilometers it was restored to the condition it left the factory on June 16, 1966.
