The Schutte Body Company displayed some of their coachwork at the 1920 New York show. Their work was on par with other highest-priced custom coachbuilders, and they offered new bodies for a variety of cars, including Locomobile, Marmon, and Peerless. This Cadillac was originally a roadster and the new Schutte Military Sport body was installed between 1917 and 1919. The Military Sport Model was advertised by Schutte as 'popular among officers,' presumably because an officer needed a small car that could transport them between posts. They were highly finished and offered some conveniences of a larger car.
This example was in the same family from at least as early as 1927. It is believed that the same owners purchased it new, making it a one-family car for 98 years, before the present owner acquired it. It is believed to be the only Cadillac in existence to wear a Schutte Military Sport body.
The car was found in long-term barn storage. It has been fully re-commissioned and has been refinished in a period Cadillac medium blue with black fenders. It was given new nickel plating on the radiator surround, new leather-grain vinyl upholstery, and five new tires.By Daniel Vaughan | Aug 2013
