1928 Auburn 8-88 Navigation
The Auburn Automobile Company was established in 1900 and earned a reputation for extraordinary performance and endurance on the racetrack. Race driver Wade Morton set a record of 108 mph for the flying mile at Daytona Beach in 1928 in a Lycoming-powered 8-cylinder roadster. The famous Auburn Speedster with its rakish boattail design also debuted in 1928 with the same record-breaking engine. After being badly damaged by fire in the 1930s, this car was rescued in 1956 after being found sitting in a field in Idaho.
