1966 Lamborghini Miura Coupe

  • Designed by Bertone
  • Chassis Number: 0862
This is the second of the three Lamborghini Miura P400 prototypes designed by Marcello Gandini at Carrozzeria Bertone and built in 1966. The three cars were shown at different auto shows around Europe in 1966 and 1967.

This P400 was first displayed at the 1966 Turin Auto Show in its distinctive pearlescent color and with the rectangular trap door in the roof for ventilation that was only found on the prototypes. It was the first Miura ever to be delivered to a customer, namely the Marchese Gerino Gerini of Milan on December 29th of 1966. Bertone built the bodies, Marchesi of Modena the chassis, and the 4-liter, V12 engines and running gear were fitted and finished at Lamborghini in Sant'Agata. Ferruccio Lamborghini had initially planned to build 30 of his new supercars, but because of the huge demand he very wisely reconsidered, and by the end of Miura production in January of 1973 just over 760 had been sold.
