1969 AC 428 Fastback Coupe

AC Cars decided to reconfigure its Cobra sports car as a luxury Grand Tourer in 1965. The new fastback coupe was first shown at the Geneva Salon the following year. Produced between 1967 and 1973, the AC 428 Frua was designed to compete with the performance GT cars of its day. With a 7-liter Ford engine producing around 350 bhp, it was one of the fastest cars on the market. AC made a total of 81 cars, of which 30 were convertibles and 51 fastbacks. The chassis, based on a lengthened Cobra Mark III, was fabricated in AC's Thames Ditton factory in the United Kingdom and sent to Pietro Frua in Turin to receive its light steel body shell. Back at Thames Ditton, the mechanicals was installed, and the car was finished to the customer's specifications. Of the 81 cars built by AC, around 62 still survive and this is one of 11 in North America.
