1922 Ballot 2 Litre Race Car

In 1919, Edouard and Maurice Ballot built four cars for the first post-World War 1 running of the Indianapolis 500. The Ballot was largely based on the Peugeot Voiturette with a straight-eight, dual-overhead-cam 5-liter engine designed by Ernest Henry. Two Ballots finished the race in 4th and 11th place against stiff opposition. In 1921, Henry designed the Ballot 2LS as a road-going Tourer and also as a race car with a smaller 2-liter, twin-cam 4-cylinder engine. Over 100 examples were built and raced successfully between 1921 and 1924 at the French Grand Prix, the Targa Florio, and the Spa 24 Hours.

This car (32) was run by the Ballot team for a number of years before the arrival of the new 2LTS in 1925. Its current owner acquired the car in 2010.
