1960 Ferrari 250 GT California Navigation
Completed in January 1960, this Spyder California was the 4th alloy-bodied Spyder California and the 45th of the 50 LWB cars built by Ferrari. It was ordered by Ferrari's North American importer Luigi Chinetti for George Reeds' RRR Motors in Homewood, Illinois. Chinetti was keen to promote the Ferrari Spyders on the racetracks of North America, and the car was ordered with Testa Rossa racing features such as disc brakes, the high-compression 3-liter, V12 engine and Dunlop racing tires. Finished in Rosso Bordeaux Metalizzato with black upholstery, Reed showed his new Spyder at the 1960 Chicago Motor Show alongside two Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina Coupes. Despite its racing credentials, this car never saw a track. In 1979 it became part of the Sherman M. Wolf Ferrari Collection.
