In 1978 Porsche introduced the new 911 SC with a 3.0-liter engine, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed Type-915 transmission. First year power output was 180 horsepower, later 188, and then in 1981 it was increased to 204 horsepower. There was no Carrera version of the new SC. In 1979 Porsche AG had decided to phase out the 911 and replace it, ultimately, with the V8 928 - more grand tour than sports car - but such was the SC sales success they changed their minds, and the 911 lived on. SC sales reached 58,914 units!
