1934 Chevrolet Master Series DB Closed Cab Pickup

In the early 1930s, Chevrolet was facing stiff competition from other American half-ton pickup truck manufacturers like Ford and Dodge. Chevrolet was in need of refreshing their line of pickups. By 1934, Chevrolet introduced a line of pickup trucks that did just that. The trucks introduced new styling with components that were not interchangeable with their passenger car cousins.

Chevrolet's new line of pickups was introduced in December of 1933 and they were drastically different than their predecessors. Styling was smoother, with a revised grille and with slightly more voluptuous fenders. The wheelbase was stretched to 112 inches and the engine was moved further forward on the chassis. They were given a new frame that was much sturdier and stronger than past frames in Chevrolet trucks. This allowed the new 1934 models to haul heavier loads and function more effectively as trucks.

The Chevrolet Trucks were manufactured in Tarrytown, New York, in 1934. This half-ton DB Master Closed Cab Pickup is powered by a 206 cubic-inch inline six, which is mated to a three-speed manual transmission. It was given a full frame-off mechanical and cosmetic restoration.
